School Bears Name of Former Superintendent
Mr.
Puster was born in Laredo, Texas in 1943 and graduated from Burges High
School in El, Paso. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the
University of Texas @ El Paso and worked as an assistant chemist in El
Paso for four years. The call of teaching beckoned him, and in 1968 he
began teaching secondary science in El Paso where he taught for six
years. In 1974, Mr. Puster completed his Master's Degree in Counseling
and served as school counselor for three years. He received his
Master's Degree in Administration in 1977 and became a middle school
administrator in Rockport, Texas. He remained in Rockport as an
administrator for three years. Then, in 1980, Mr. Puster completed the
additional graduate hours needed for Superintendent Certification. It
was then that he was hired to serve as superintendent for Lovejoy ISD,
where he served for 20 years. Upon retirement from the superintendent
position, Mr. Puster was asked to return to Lovejoy ISD as the Director
of Finance. He served us in that capacity for three years. Since
leaving Lovejoy ISD, Mr. Puster has spent the last three years doing
school finance consulting and he is currently doing short term
administrative work in local schools as needed. Robert Puster and his
wife, Rebecca, who is the Lovejoy Middle School Counselor, have four
children and five grandchildren. They attend First United Methodist
Church in Allen where they are active in missionary ministries. Robert
has served as President of the Board of Directors of Allen Community
Outreach and he enjoys assisting with Dr. Tom Brian's House of Hope
ministry in Honduras. As we look to the future of Robert L. Puster
Elementary, we do so with pride in having our school named for such an
outstanding educational and community leader. We thank him for his many
years of service to the children of Lovejoy ISD.
